David Avisar -
Scribe & Artist

We are proud to represent at our Website the well known Israeli artist, David Avisar. Dancing with Joy at the Rebuilding of Jerusalem

His creation contributes a lot to the tradition of Jewish and Israeli Art which begins now to expand and to retake its roots in Israel and other places in world. Some of the originalities, concentrated in his work lay in the easiness and joy with which the religious character is represented, as well as the modern artistic methods which are chosen for this ancient subject.

David Avisar was born in Israel 1955,

he was grown up in a suburb of Tel Aviv surrounded by fields of orange trees. He served as a paratrooper in the IDF.
After the service he was working during many years as a tour guide in the Sinai. This place served as a rich source of creative energy because of its historical importance: The Giving of the Torah to the People of Israel in the Sinai desert. He began to study at the Ramat Hasharon Academy of Art, afterwards he moved to live in the artists colony of Ein Hod.

David Avisar traveled a lot around the world, lived in Los Angeles, Mexico and other places, but in 1989 he decides to return to Israel and to make a closer relation with his Jewish heritage. Today he lives and creates in Beit Shemesh with his family.

Ruth the MoabiteThe world, created by David Avisar is full of vital energy, expressed by vivid colors and dynamic lines. His connection to the Jewish heritage is represented in multitude of Israeli landscapes and Jewish Nature Morts, rich in national iconography.

Also many universal themes and symbols can be found in his work. The human search and longing for higher spheres is expressed in the artists work with the repeating motif of human figures with hands extended towards heaven or even flying human figures. In this way the artist makes an attempt to connect between spiritual and material worlds which is the delicate task of a religious artist, especially Jewish, because in this religion there were always difficulties in defining the place of art within the society. In this case, the artist propose only to serve the religion and to inspire prayer and meditation

David Avisar in his creation aspires to reach harmony which lays in the unity of contrasts of shapes, colors and visions.
